"...I'd be worried and wary of him if he didn't."- the crux of the quote.

The liberal whining would seem to go along with general opposition to the current bishop of Rome whom they assume to be quite conservative - a debatable point. I believe there was some himming and hawing from evangelical circles and as well and as I said from some Anglicans - I think that there may have been some discussions at the Continuum - http://anglicancontinuum.blogspot.com/

(and thanks for the comment!)

Exactamente.

The Orthodox 'get it'. Of course - as a catholic church themselves they make a similar claim.

'Of course he believes his church is superior - I'd be worried and wary of him if he didn't.'

The liberal Protestants and secular people (predictable media spin - 'Pope disses other Christians!') seem the most upset about it - why do they even care?

"For an honest theological dialogue to happen, one should have a clear view of the position of the other side," because "it helps understand how different we are," he said. Basically, the Vatican's current document has nothing new and is in "full conformity with the doctrine of the Catholic Church," Metropolitan Kirill said.
